Headway annual awards dinner

Headway logoGaby Hardwicke Personal Injury Services Partner Iona Smith was delighted to attend the recent annual awards dinner of Headway, the national charity that works to improve the lives of those who have suffered serious head injuries.

The event, held at the Dorchester in London, paid tribute to some of the special people involved with the charity including brain injury survivors, carers, volunteers and campaigners with moving and inspirational stories.

After lunch guests enjoyed the awards ceremony and a charity auction. Celebrity attendees included former rowing world champion and double Olympic gold medallist James Cracknell OBE, Johnson Beharry VC, former England and Arsenal footballer Alan Smith, TV antiques expert Eric Knowles and singer-songwriter Marc Almond of the band Soft Cell.

The four Headway award-winners were:

  • Steven Lomas, Headway Stockport and South Manchester – Achiever of the Year.
  • Charlie Korving, Headway Dorset – Carer of the Year.
  • Gill Leandro, Headway West Kent – Volunteer of the Year.
  • Peter Shaw, Headway North Derbyshire – Stephen McAleese Outstanding Contribution to Headway Award.
