Bryan Sagar was born in 1945 and grew up in Barnsley in South Yorkshire, the son of a working-class family. He was educated at the local village school, then at Barnsley Grammar School.
Bryan entered the law when he joined a substantial Barnsley practice as a trainee costs draftsman at the age of 22. He thrived on legal study, attended night school and eventually qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1976. Further studies led to the College of Law and qualification as a Solicitor in 1980.
After various moves to enhance his career, including five years working in London’s West End, Bryan acquired and grew the firm which became Eaton Sagar Solicitors, Hastings.
An approach in 1999 by Gaby Hardwicke led to what Bryan describes as "a merger made in heaven". There he developed his full potential as a partner specialising in property-based commercial transactions before being appointed a consultant to the firm in 2011. After many years' service to Gaby Hardwicke and the local community he retired in 2015.
Bryan remains an avid volunteer for St Michael’s Hospice having recently retired after many years as the Company Secretary. He is a keen football fan and has supported Barnsley FC since he was a boy. After a lifetime treading the fairways, he plays little golf now but retains a keen interest in the game. His active sporting pursuits are swimming and the French game of pétanque.
